Ode to Gordon

Guess who had a birthday this weekend?  That's right - this guy!  He turned 5 on November 13th, and I figured I needed to blog about him.  That little kitchen decoration - sadly that is about where he ranks these days!
I was thinking back on our time with him.  Of course, I cannot find very many pictures of him anywhere! There were some in my classroom, but who knows where they are now??  Storage?  The back of the guest room closet?  Hmm, needless to say, this won't have many pics!
We got Gordie the Christmas we were first married - 2004.  We were not (and are still not) dog people, but I thought it would be fun to have a puppy.  I was not ready for a child, and I thought a puppy would be cute and a lot less non-committal.  Anyway, I was set on a dachsund named Herman, but Heath saw a couple with a baby pug in their purse at Panera, and thought he liked pugs better.  Man, does he regret that Panera trip now, but God knew what he was doing!!
Anyway, we found an article for pugs in the paper, but it was in the town of Albertville (about an hour or so away).  So, we set out on Christmas Eve to "look at" puppies.  When we got there - wow it was disgusting - they took us out back to the pin.  There was a tiny, 6 week old black puppy shivering in there.  I was sold!  I picked him up and Heath (the planner) said "What are the temperaments of pugs?"  The country man said "Ell, they's about like their owners.  And lookin' at her (me), looks like this un'll be hopper (hyper)."  Hmm.  I laughed, and we set off on our way.  We headed to buy all of his gear and show him off!  We stopped at Kate's house in Springville on the way home, and I used to have a picture of that day.  Of course I lost it (hopefully not forever), but he was SO tiny!
It is hard to name a dog!  And a child for that matter.  But, anyway.  We went back and forth all the way up there about what his name would be.  I think human names are funny, and Heath was more traditional.  I swear he suggested Black Beauty, but he denies it.  Anyway, we passed an insurance (I think) billboard that said Gordon Henderson.  And that was it!
We got to my parents' house, and my mom said, "Get that THING off my carpet!"  She doesn't love dogs, and that has pretty much been consistent all of Gordon's life.  That night and the next few weeks, we had a crying, not so good at sleeping puppy. After having a baby, I don't think I will get a puppy again!  I could do it with Turner because of mother's love and stuff, and I guess that is what got me through then, but it is annoying to listen to them cry!

Gordon's first Christmas card - he was a year old and some referred to him as "the Christmas gremlin" - I am fully aware that he is beautiful because he is so ugly

Anyway, Gordon has been my class mascot at school for the last 5 years.  They LOVED hearing Gordon stories, and though most classes didn't even meet him, they could write paragraphs about him, and he really helped out when we were studying adjectives!  I gave them Christmas cards of him every year, and they would throw down the candy and toys and books I gave them, and keep that stinkin' card as their favorite.  Crazy.
I had a student who was Indian and had autism.  We will call him K.  K talked about Gordon every single day.  He would say "You have a dog?" Yes, K, I do.  "It is a pug?"  Yes.  "It is a boy, it is a girl?"  You know it is a boy!  "It is a black pug."  Yep.  "Gordon is not day-ed (dead)."  No, K, you know he is not dead!!  Every day, same conversation.  Hilarious.
And I had several kids beg me to bring him to their houses.  And I did it on several occasions!!  That is why I love second graders - so easy to make them happy!
2 years ago I had a little boy, M, who also talked about Gordon every day.  He was an odd bird, and I was pretty obsessed with him.  He called him "Gerden".  Every single day he would ask "Did Gerden die last night?" Odd, looking back.  And then he would say, "How much longer till lunsh?"  We had some speech problems!
Last year for Boosterthon (our school fundraiser), our team was called the Hollywood Pugs.  Heath brought Gordie to school that morning.  I wish I had the waiver that my principal made me create in case something "dangerous" happened with the pug.  Hilarious.  I put a picture of him, and made the parents sign off that their child was able to pet him, etc. and wouldn't hold us responsible if something were to happen.  Sometimes I think this world has lost its mind when it comes to crazy stuff like that, but the kids wanted him to come so bad that I just made a joke out of it.  Anyway, Heath brought him that morning for a little class pep rally - he had on a Boosterthon t-shirt.  And all the kids gave him (the dog) high five.  Awesome.
I was trying to think of my favorite stories of him.  So many times I thought it was fun for him to sleep with us.  Heath never thought that was fun, and ALWAYS took him back to his cage.  Looking back, I can't believe I thought that was so fun.  Babies really change you!
When he was just a few months old, I came home from school.  That first year I really used to race home to make sure he was okay.  Bless him, he is so low on the totem pole now!  Anyway, I walked in from school to the gated kitchen and could not find him anywhere!!  I panicked, of course.  All of a sudden, I saw his tiny puppy bed (that he could rest his head on now) sliding across the floor?!  I realized he had bitten a hole into it, then flipped it on his head and gotten stuck.  He was so hot when I pulled him out!
Another time, the first summer we had him, I went out of town for a week.  When I got back, I accused Heath of neglect (how true now!  Ha!) because the pug had a TICK!  I freaked out (Heath was at work), called the vet, and cried on the phone with them.  Seriously.  They told me how to get it off, and I am pretty sure they were dying laughing.
Last fall, I was 30 weeks pregnant.  I decided to take Gordon on a long walk.  We made it to the end of our neighborhood, and he kept stopping.  I thought he was just being dramatic.  I kept yanking his leash.  It was still hot outside, looking back.  Anyway, then he laid down on the grass and started breathing heavy.  I teased him for panting and overdoing it, and he wouldn't move.  I finally had to pick him up (big and pregnant!) and hike up the huge hill to our house.  He weighs about 25 pounds, and I am not strong.  I called the vet, and they told me he was overheating and PASSING OUT.  Oops!

Gordon's Christmas pic from last year - taken the night I was in labor with Turner - who knew?

My last Gordon story happened today.  Now that he is kindergarten age, he thinks he is so free!  He is in an electric fence in our backyard.  Yesterday morning, our nosy neighbor caught Heath outside and told him Gordon was 2 doors down.  The battery on his electric collar was out, and he had escaped.  Anyway, fast forward to this morning.  Heath put him outside to feed him, and we forgot as we went to church and a long lunch.  Around 2 when we got home, I heard Heath yell "Crap!"  He told me what was going on, and my heart sank.  Keep in mind, a few weeks ago my loving husband loaded him in his cage one afternoon and told me he was taking him to the pound.  As he was promising it was a "no kill facility" I dropped to the floor and started crying!  I blame the hormones, but we have history with this guy.  Needless to say, we kept him.  So, I was freaking out.  Heath set out on foot to find him.  A few minutes later, all 3 of us left with Turner in the stroller and began walking the neighborhood.  I found some big scary woods at the end of our neighborhood and was convinced he was either in there with big animals, halfway to Auburn, or dead in the road.  That is because I saw a cute bulldog on 280 the other day, very sad.  Luckily, we walked back to the house, and found a note on our door.  Our sweet next door neighbor, Martha, had him in her backyard!  That is one thing about living in a retirement community (kidding, Heath), these folks don't let much get past them.  She said that 4 cars stopped to help her catch him because he "thought it was funny to run from her."  Silly pug.

People have asked if Turner and Gordon interact - they have just started.  They are equally curious about each other.

Look at the love - and don't remind Heath about the scratches on the pantry door in the background!

We love you, Gordito.  Daddy just hides it - showing tough love.  Pretty soon Turner and I will team up on him and he will realize how much he loves you.  Here's to a long - and hopefully not too dangerous with small children running around - life with us!

11 Months

I have an eleven month old!!  One month away from a year!  How is it that when you are pregnant, time ticks away slowly, but once they are born, it FLIES!
Trying to think of some highlights of eleven months.  Still Toothless Joe.  But I am hoping some teeth are poking through before a year.  Cross your fingers.  He likes to play with remote controls and cups mostly (still), and walks around the table or on the couch, etc. when he is holding on.  No steps yet without holding on.  He is understanding a little more who Gordon is (our pug).  I wouldn't call the 2 best friends.  Gordon sniffed Turner's bottom the other day and it freaked him out and he screamed.  Then, he stared and stared at Gordon, not necessarily in a loving way.  He still loves the bath, and his loveys - especially Duck and Mr. Lion.  He is trying juice, but only from my cup.  Won't have much to do with a sippy cup yet.  I think he likes mine because it is not watered down, I probably need to start doing that!  And he is eating more and more table food - especially crackers and recently vanilla wafers at school.
Last weekend, I went to Atlanta 3 days in a row.  Thursday I went to Market (so fun!) with Mom, Lindsey and Katie Compton.  We had a good time, and Turner stayed at Ms. Lee's all day.  That is where he went last year when I was teaching.  He got a good report.  I warned them that his favorite thing to do is crawl around (FAST) and climb up on things, then fall down and hit his head.  They told me that is exactly what he did!
Friday we headed over to see Jay and Kate in the hospital while we waited for Ellie to come.  Then we headed to Auburn for the Ole Miss game.  I thought it was going to be rainy, but the weather cooperated and it turned out to be a really fun game!!  Turner the Tiger turned many heads.  I think people forgot it was Halloween.  But seriously, I probably heard 543 people say "OH - look at that baby."  Then Heath would say "Trick or Treat!"  He did great during the game, and even napped with Aunt Kelly (a wonderful built-in babysitter, seriously) during 2nd quarter and half time.  I think he was warm and cuddly in his tiger suit.

After the game, we headed back to Atlanta to see baby Ellie and Jay and Kate.  So sweet and she  had those squishy little cheeks.  She already looks different, however we did see her just a couple hours after being born.  :)

Now I have a niece and a nephew born on Halloween - exactly one year apart.  So Sunday we celebrated Blake-ums turning one.  Hilarious!  Turner doesn't seem too jealous that Blake can walk and he can't.  I might be a bad mom, but I am sure not rushing it.  He already crawls too fast for me.  It stresses Heath out when we are at home.  I will be in the den doing something very productive like reading blogs and we will hear a noise in the kitchen.  10 seconds after I just saw him in the den!  And I have to watch because his favorite place to hang out is the dishwasher.  I don't think so!

Today I had to take the weasel to the doctor for a "nameless, faceless fever virus" according to the doctor.  He has been pretty pitiful - the last 2 days he has cried and cried and I have just had to hold him.  But, 2 and 3 hours later you would never know he was sick!!  Last night, he slept with us.  Well, he didn't start out with us - I went and got him when he was screaming and burning up at 10:30 and threw him next to me.  Sidenote - I don't know how people sleep with their babies all the time.  This kid is a bed hog.  Anyway, by 3:30, I woke up thinking there were 2 children in my bed because he was flipping and jumping from Heath to me and back.  I am not exaggerating.  At first I thought he was having seizures or hallucinating from fever, which was scary.  Then I realized, no, he was just awake and wanting to play!!  I grabbed him and he laughed in my face.  He kills me.  So, he got to go back to his bed, where he stayed.  The doctor actually said "It should be over now.  He can do whatever he wants to tomorrow."  Like he has been begging to go to a friend's house or something.  Ha!  More like we can get back to whatever we want tomorrow, which if you know Heath of course involves the Auburn game.  I am trying to get pumped up about Homecoming...
2 weird things at the doctor - 1.  He didn't cry when they poked his finger and filled the little lab vial with blood.  He just stared at it and then back at me, and resumed playing with his water bottle.  What??  I want to cry NOW whenever they take my blood and fill things with it.  Then he tried to scheme a way to take the bandaid off.  I think it was off by the time he got in the car.
2.  We play this game with him (well, Heath would want me to clarify that I do this more often, because it does sound sort of crazy).  But we have done it since he was about 7 months old.  I will (usually in the car) say "Ahh."  And he will mimic the noise back "AAhh"  This can go on for several minutes, if not hours.  I shorten it or try to make the noise different, just to see what he will do.  No kidding, he will go all day.  I sometimes think it is funny to see how long Heath can handle it in the car before he (Heath) loses his mind.  But, I digress.  When we were sitting in the doctor's office, there was a younger baby in a room down the hall.  Turner and I were playing while waiting for the doctor, and the baby was crying - not screaming in a fit, just crying out.  Every time the baby would make a noise, Turner would respond "Aaahh."  Like a game.  Then he would laugh.  Is this psycho or just a sense of humor?  I tried to tell him to be quiet, but I kept laughing, because it reminded me of animals communicating - like echolocation or something.

Check out these party animals!!

Up in NYC

Last weekend, Heath and I headed to New York (Thursday-Sunday) because Heath had to go up there for work.  When he said he'd be staying at the Waldorf, I said count me in.  The Hendersons so graciously kept the weasel from Wednesday night until Sunday night.  What a blessing!  They kept him and seemed to enjoy it!!
We flew out of Birmingham early in the morning - our flight left at 7.  It was a super small plane - so small that we had to walk outside and get on the plane with stairs!  Wow - that might be normal for some of y'all, but not this girl.  When we landed at La Guardia (and I started looking for anyone famous - don't worry, didn't see anyone), it was FREEZING and raining.  We had to ride a little trolley in from the small plane to the airport (I mean - it wasn't private plane small - maybe 50 people total?!) and it was so interesting riding with people from Alabama at the New York airport.  At one point a woman said very loudly "It's like country came to town!!"  Awesome.
Anyway, Heath met a gentleman (who followed him out of the bathroom - sketchy?) who was a limo driver.  He offered to take us into town for a very discounted rate - almost the rate of a taxi.  We said, "Of course."  He was supposed to pick up a group of executives, but they cancelled.  So he settled for us.  It was very nice to be taken care of - he grabbed all of our bags and gave us his umbrella to walk under.  Actually, he opened his umbrella over me while we were waiting indoors for our baggage to come down the runway.  I thanked him, waited a minute, then put it down.  I didn't want to look like a VIP - ha - or ridiculous!!

He told Heath when he was giving him the sales pitch - "A big limo.  Like prom!"

Inside of prom limo

Fresh from the airport

Then, we got to the Waldorf-Astoria.  We stayed there one time in college and I remember Heath saying, "We will never be able to afford to stay here again."  So I was thrilled for trip number 2!  However, our room wasn't ready.  We scooted on over to the concierge, and asked about shows.  He told us none were playing (which was fine, because we saw Wicked last year when we went, and I wasn't dying to see anything this time).  We headed a "few" blocks away - it ended up being 27!! - to watch a movie.  They had told us it was "about 10" blocks away.  Luckily, we were high on New York adrenaline and armed with Waldorf umbrellas they had given us.
We found a great place to eat, called Christine's.  Heath asked where I wanted to go, and I told him that a place would just jump out at us.  Luckily, that place did and the food was delicious.

Heath made fun of me as I took a picture of my chicken, but I am trying to do better with documenting trips.  I usually don't take that many pictures - not a good picture person.  The blog helps.  But I digress.  We went and saw 'Couples Retreat'.  That might sound lame that we watched a movie, but let me remind you - we did plenty of sightseeing on our little hike, it was freezing and raining, and we didn't have a certain 10 and a half month old with us that we would usually pass off to someone to watch while we saw a movie.  I thought that movie was funny.  However, Pregnant/Woke-Up-Super-Early-For-Flight here  fell asleep at the end.  Sad.
Right when we sat down for the movie, the Waldorf called and said that our room was ready.  So we headed back for our trek to the hotel.

The Waldorf - Park Avenue side

Fun lobby - last time we saw Dr. Ruth and Pat Sajak here, but not so much this time!

Our room was very nice, and the lobby is beautiful!  We got ready and headed to meet Heath's friend/BFF from work Mike Sosnowski or "Soz".  He lives in New Jersey, and the line for a taxi was really long.   A guy on a bike with a little buggy on the back or a "bike taxi" (sort of) came by.  It was raining.  He asked us if we wanted a ride, and simultaneously I laughed in his face and Heath said, "Sure!"  What??

Pedicabs - I think that is what it is called

We rode on this little contraption through the city, zipped under some plastic - to the train station.  We took the train (2 trains) to Hoboken and then to East Rutherford, New Jersey.
We met Mike, his wife Patti, and his mom, Elizabeth for dinner at a great place called Park and Orchard.  It was wonderful food and even better company!  I had met Mike once before, but never his mom or Patti.  We had a great time!  Heath really loves his buddy, so it was fun that they got to hang out!

Sosnowskis and Hendersons

Work BF - that was for you, Mike :)

Afterwards, they drove us back to the city.  We counted our modes of transportation that Thursday - our car/airplane/airport bus/limo/walking/bicycle/trains/car.  Wow.  All in one day.
On Friday, Heath had meetings all morning.  I slept in!  It was glorious.  Turner is a wonderful sleeper, but I felt like my mom appreciating being in the hotel room all by myself!  I never understood that until I had a child - I watched t.v. and rested while Heath worked.  Last year I freaked out at about 20 weeks pregnant, and we took an anniversary trip to New York.  I thought it was a last trip for a while, and that we wouldn't travel for a while.  It was great - we saw Wicked and ate at Serendipity and went to Chinatown and Central Park and shopped and did all sorts of touristy things!  So, I felt off the hook this time to relax!  Loser?  Maybe.
When Heath got back, we headed to Rockefeller Center to eat a late lunch.  Then we walked around - touched Times Square and saw a line around the block at Magnolia Bakery.
That night, the company Heath was doing the seminar with had a nice dinner at The University Club.

The ballroom where we had dinner

We made some friends from Merrill Lynch Memphis and ended up sitting at their table.  They even helped me steal the dessert I wanted (you got assigned!?).  Afterwards, we went outside to the balcony and I tried to get a picture (not great) of the buildings lit up at night.

Saturday we wanted to do something different, so we tried SoHo.  So cool!  We found so many cool shops!  Heath wondered what the Ugg store was, and I was more than willing to show him - until there was a line outside the door and you had to take a number.  No thank you!  I found a store that reminded me of market in Atlanta - I got a jacket and 3 sweaters for $116 total!  Heath wasn't as excited as I was, but we both loved SoHo.
We walked in several places to eat lunch, but pregnancy struck again.  Everything smelled funny!  It is really sad that we passed a Wendy's in the taxi on the way there, and that is ALL I wanted!!  Luckily, we settled for California Pizza Kitchen.  I know - country really did come to town.  But, it was delicious!  And it was right next to my favorite place in the city - Dylan's Candy Shop.  3 floors of wonderful candy!!  (We went there last year, too, and I HAD to go back.)

Dylan's Candy Shop

Saturday afternoon we chilled and got ready for the Auburn game.  We found out where the New York Auburn club watched the game - Bar 515.  It was so cool!  We got there early to get a seat, and all the bartenders and waitresses, etc. had Auburn shirts on!  Then we ended up knowing 5 or 6 people there.  ADPi friends - I saw Kiley Durham and she looked fabulous!  Told me that she just stopped working for Kay Unger, and is pursuing several different things with art and fashion.  What a fun life!  She downplayed it, but she is a big deal up there!  We also saw Jan Paul, Mary and Riley (all younger friends from Auburn).  And I actually teared up at kickoff when the entire bar said "WAAAAARR EAGLE" in unison.  Auburn all the way up in New York!  That ended up being the most fun part of that game!  And Heath and I realized that in 8+ years of being together we have never watched a game together by ourselves.  It was nice!

Inside New York's Little Auburn away from home
We flew out early Sunday morning.  As we were checking out, we thought we would get brunch somewhere.  We asked at Waldorf - guess how much for brunch?  95 dollars.  A person!!  We passed on that, though it was gorgeous!  Chili's at the airport was just fine!  We had a nice flight back and made some more friends in the NYC airport.  It is a small world!
And, just so I don't forget Turner, here is a picture of him from lunch today.  He is with Grandad Starr.  I really missed him while I was gone - funny thing about being a parent.  Nice to get away, but even better to come home to him!!  Again, I was so, so thankful that MeMe and Pap and Aunt Kelly and Uncle Jonathan took such wonderful care of him!  He had a ball!!

91 and a half and 10 and a half months!

It's Not a Secret...

We are pregnant with #2!  We were SHOCKED when we found out, but we are blessed...and a little overwhelmed.  This baby is due May 15th, 2010.  Here is a picture - still very tiny!
I asked Dr. A the other day, "So, I am really pregnant?"  He said, "You have been pregnant!"  Time to get on board - ha! I found out very early, so I have known about 6 weeks.  It has taken some time to process, but we are resting in God's will and sovereignty.  Turner will be 17 months (Lord willing) when this one is born.  I laughed at my sister for having hers that close together.  Well, that came back at me!  After our appointment last week, I have been fine with people knowing, just been hesitant and a little fearful to post it so publicly.  But we are resting in the verse, "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."  Phil. 1:6
In other news, Turner is now 10 months!  I am glad he waited until about a month or so ago to crawl around, because he is all over the place!!  He loves to stand up.

This makes me laugh - this is what I see a lot, little hands and little eyes!

He falls a lot, but he just gets right back up.  His head has bumps and bruises from hitting the coffee table so much.  The other day he was crying and I started fussing at the coffee table for hitting him, and he just laughed.  Oh, to be a fly on the wall in our house.  He is also talking all the time, he just doesn't know what he is saying.  He loves to say "Dat!"  It doesn't mean Dad or that, but it is what he says consistently.  I am trying to teach him "Mmmm, mama" but he just laughs in my face and reaches again for the remote.

Playing with his favorite toy - the yellow ball that jingles (Big Brother shirt made by Aunt Lindsey - that is how we told the Hendersons)

He is also a huge fan of cups and water bottles!

And he doesn't know how to slow down on the bottles!

We have had a busy fall.  He is still loving Mother's Day Out.  He doesn't even turn his head when I leave, that turkey!  He barely looks at me when I go in to check on him - he just keeps crawling around and trying to walk while holding on to things like beds and toys.  Not walking yet, though.  That is okay with me - crawling is wearing me out!!  Also, he is eating more and more human food.  I dropped him off in the nursery today for church and I had to check "Do not feed him crackers" on the information sheet.  To which they replied, "You know he loves crackers?  We have been giving them to him for weeks."  Oh, my bad.  Uncheck.  He tore up the crackers!  And teddy grahams tonight at dinner, and Cheerios and puffs and any kind of bread.  He has started a really annoying shriek (given it is a happy sound, but still annoying) when he wants food.  He did it at dinner the other night.  The table next to us thought it was cute (it is not that cute), but there was definitely a couple about our age who clearly did not have kids that was glaring at me.  I glared right back, like "Get back to me when you have kids!"  Ughh.
We have had fun watching the Auburn game with friends (even yesterday's).

With Weaver and Anna - they look sad because their moms don't have blogs :(

After the Mount Laurel Harvest Festival with his buddy, York.  We didn't get a picture with his other buddy, Harrison, but we sure did have fun!

And we even visited Volree and baby Cooper.  He kept trying to grab Cooper's head, though, so we had to stop that photo shoot early.

9 Months

Turner turned 9 months on the 5th and went for his 9 month appointment last week.  He weighed 21 and a half pounds (75th percentile) and was 29 inches long (also 75th).  I finally caved and his big boy carseat came in the mail today.  He got a Britax Roundabout 50 (I just copy what Lindsey does on things like that), and we are going to set it up tonight - hopefully.
He is very interactive at this age, and I catch myself truly laughing every day.  I miss that about my second graders - they would crack me up every day.  So it is nice to catch him making me laugh.  His laugh is hilarious - he just giggles and it is contagious!

His favorite game is to say "Ah" and then Heath or I will respond "Ahh" and so on.  He can do this ALL DAY if you let him.  But it is funny to hear him respond!  Heath has also advanced the game to making a "bmmm" noise with his lips and blow bubbles, and he does the same.  Also, he loves to jump in the jumperoo and crawl around.  He has just mastered crawling in the last 2 weeks, and he still does the army crawl/pull thing.  And he loves to stand up - any chance he gets!  This is how I found him after his nap today.

Guess we will be lowering the bed now!
He has also gone to all 3 Auburn games so far.  Don't worry - Mom and Dad of the Year here took him to the ENTIRE AU/WVU game.  So fun!  This is the only picture I got - on my cell phone.
When we were walking to the game, the bottom fell out.  Sheets of rain!!  So, Heath ran back to get the car, and Heath and I stood under an awning at the Fisheries building.  This little weasel stuck his hand out to catch the rain and just laughed.  I was just glad he wasn't screaming because we were so soaked.  Heath came back and picked us up, and Jay and Kate.  We went to Amsterdam, picked up dinner and went back to the house to eat and get dry.  We put Turner in his pajamas and waited for the rain to stop.  Then we started getting word that the game was going to be played soon, and debated the safe, rational idea of putting him in bed.  Then we decided to bite the bullet and take him.  Guess which parent had hesitation - nope, not me.  I knew Heath wouldn't want to miss this game, and I was right!!  For the love, we were only 2 or 3 miles away!

Why is this on the side?  View of the field while raining that I copied from Lindsey's blog...

We pulled on to campus and got a great parking spot, since so many people had left in the rain.  At this point, Heath and Jay reverted back to little boys, sprinting into the stadium right after kickoff.  Kate and I were trying to catch up, but we were laughing so hard we almost fell.  A drunk college kid ran by and said to his friends "the dude with the baby is beating me in the stadium."  Hilarious.  When we walked in (I had on Heath's friend's XL Auburn shirt and wet hair - but at this point - who cared?  Everyone had been soaked.  Write it down - Heath Henderson had on black running shorts, a long sleeve Under Armor shirt that said "Must protect this house" across the front, and a Baby Bjorn with Turner dangling in his pajamas.  So funny.  We really didn't care, though.  I wish you had seen how many people say "How old is he?"  And I caught 4 people saying "You are crazy."  I know.  But, the game ended up being so fun, and Turner was passed out with 5 minutes left in the first quarter.  He slept until half time, and then again in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  Praise the Lord the noise doesn't bother him!  Especially this game's noise - louder than I have heard it in years!!
Some other favorites of Turner's are bath time and playing drums.  He splashes water as if he has never seen it before.  And he does not like getting out of the tub, but I have to take him out when I am so soaked from his splashing.

For the drums, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Jonathan have a real bongo drum at their house that he is obsessed with!  Now he likes to make other things drums, too, like his bumbo seat and the wipes container.  Kelly told me this weekend that he was getting a drum set for Christmas, and I suggested we keep it at her house, because I might lose my mind if he did that all day every day.  And he would hit the thing all day.

Now we are going to start trying solid foods.  However, when we do this, he acts like I have fed him poison and looks like he is gagging.  So, we will keep trying!  Until next time, War Eagle!!!

About to pass out at the tailgate...
